A Starting Place { 31 Days of Adoption : Day 1}

I’ve had this series burning in my heart for quite some time. I wanted to join in the 31 day challenge last year but just couldn’t make it happen. This year I’m diving in and praying God gives me the right direction… the right words… and the ability to write what I know and have seen and be okay with the vast amount of information I don’t know. But this I do know… I love the miracle and blessing of Adoption. God has put in me a passion for families who want to adopt and there is little I enjoy more than watching God work in the hearts of a mommy or daddy to open them up to a journey they never imagined possible but yet couldn’t imagine not having embarked upon.

Time after time I get messages about how a person/family is starting to be open to the idea of adoption and that they just don’t know where to start. Either they aren’t finding enough information online about the type of journey they are feeling led to or there is an abundance of information and before they know it they are completely overwhelmed and feel like they are under water fast!  Sometimes its easier to push away from the computer and walk away because you can’t wrap your head around all the vast amounts of rules, requirements, options, countries, warnings, stories, and agencies.

I’m reminded of that finance commercial about how people aren’t sure what to do then a bright green starting line pops up and beckons them forward… and with each turn and twist they just follow the green line. If only it could be exactly like that when it comes to adoption.

Well… I can’t promise to know each twist and turn that lay ahead but hopefully THIS 31 DAYS SERIES  can be your starting line.

This will be the Index page for all the posts coming in the next 31 days.  It’s the post you’ll want to link to or send to friends who are needing adoption insight.

And so on  >>>>

I hope you’ll join me for the next 31 days (or however long it takes me to get them all written)  as we look at adoption from many angles… we go deeper into difficult aspects of adoption… and we actually get down to how to make it happen and get involved!

And if adoption isn’t on your radar as far as being able to raise a child in your home…. this series is still for you. We can ALL do something about the millions and millions of children who do not have a family of their own and many of them are dying and won’t live to ever have the love of a mommy or daddy.  I love what Jen Hatmaker has written here…  “A crisis of this magnitude is going to take us all – all the mamas, all the daddies, all the countries, all the workers. Some of us will raise the money, some will raise awareness, and some will raise the kids. Certain families will rally from here, and other families will pack up and move to vulnerable countries and do the work. Some of us will be starters, some executers, some funders, some visionaries. But it will take us all.”

So… come along and read with me… learn with me… pray with me… and let’s make a difference out there for those in need of a family. Let’s change the world.
